OWNTHEAD is the data controller for personal data processed through ownthead.com. Contact: mail@ownthead.com.

1. What we collect, and why

Your email address. To send your receipt, tell you whether your artwork was approved, let you sign in to your sponsor profile, and send you photographic proof once the billboard is installed. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.

The sponsor details you choose to publish — name, artwork, website, social handle, short message. These are published on the Site and printed on the physical billboard. That publication is the product you are buying. Legal basis: performance of our contract.

Payment data. Card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We keep the payment reference, amount, and status. Legal basis: contract and our legal obligation to keep accounting records.

First-party analytics. Anonymous events (page views, interactions with the billboard, checkout steps) tied to a random session identifier stored in a cookie. We use no third-party analytics, no advertising trackers, and no cross-site profiling. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the Site is used.

2. Cookies

We set a session cookie to hold your territory reservation and an anonymous analytics identifier, and a sign-in cookie if you use your sponsor profile. All are first-party and strictly functional or analytics. We set no advertising cookies.

3. Who else sees your data

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Our hosting and database providers — to run the Site.
  • Our email provider — to deliver transactional messages.
  • The owner of the physical billboard — the artwork and sponsor name, for creative approval and printing.

We do not sell personal data.

4. How long we keep it

Sponsor and order records for as long as the campaign is live and afterwards for the period required by tax and accounting law. Analytics events are kept in aggregate. Published sponsor details remain visible as part of the campaign's permanent record; you may ask us to remove your website link and social handle at any time.

5. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, restrict or object to processing, and request portability. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

To exercise any of these, write to mail@ownthead.com.

Note that we cannot un-print a physical billboard. Once artwork has been printed and installed, that reproduction exists in the world; we can remove the digital record and stop future reproduction.

6. Transfers

Some providers may process data outside the EEA. Where that happens we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
